For several years, I thought that the symptoms I had was due to something other than lactose intolerance – overwork, beans – the list goes on. At home it was not the problem that it is when I travel. When I was working on locations, I would just limit my food intake. With no pattern and not knowing what foods contained lactose made my selections a guess.
I finally got to the point that a small glass of milk would make my stomach churn in a matter of minutes. When I went on the internet, I found many sources of lactose and that it is more or less hidden. Consuming more fiber and of course eliminating lactose was a help. Even investigating my own family was a surprise. I have 2 sisters and a son that are lactose intolerant. Imagine my finding out that they discovered it before I did and I am the oldest.
I have finished the Lactagen program and it does work. It makes my work so much easier and eating out less of a problem. My mom used to encourage us to drink milk and you do what your mom says.
